ALPHA VERSION
UPDATE: Over the last 5 days, I've been helping a friend restore his site which was hacked. The alpha release will therefore happen next week-end.
Well it's been a long road and it looks like the Alpha version of Gumby 2.0 will be available this coming week-end
Since this will be an alpha, it will be incomplete and probably buggy. But it will give you the chance to test the modules and see if it works to your satisfaction.
Of course, your feedback is essential and you can report any bugs, issues or problems you might encounter so I can fix them :D

PROGRESS REPORT
Our crack staff of 60's looking non-existant engineers have been hard at work studying and coding some of the new features you have requested.
So far work has been done on:
• Making a module that would fix broken MP3 files
• Creating a module to extract and comrpess 7z archives
• Code to fix or re-write the timecode in an MPEG file
• A tool to patch avi files so Toast will accept them properly
• A utility to verify, extract and inject Xbox360 security checks
• A module to burn Xbox Double-Layered disc images
• New NFO module that would let you save NFO files as pictures
Now the Xbox DL burning module is a big step for Gumbyy. I sort of have to do it because Toast won't burn Xbox360 DL discss properly. It's up to you, the users, to decide if this will be an xbox360-only feature or if I should make the disc burning more 'generic' and burn any kind of discs.
Feel free to email me your suggestions at unsecretun@hotmail.com or post a comment via the 'blog' button on the left. Keep those suggestions coming: your input is appreciated.
DONATION UPDATE: Your donations have helped moved Gumby 2.0 forward. If donations keep coming in, I expect to release the alpha to donators in 3-4 weeks time. Let's cross our fingers.

New Gumby 2.0 Features
First off, a big THANK YOU to those who have made a donation via Paypal. Your contribution is apreciated. Donations are picking up slowly and as a direct result, I am taking requests for new features to add to the program.
I have already received suggestions such as:
• Support for zip 7 compressed archives
• A tool to rewrite MPEG timecode
• A utility for Xbox 360 users to deal with DL images
If there is a module that doesn't exist yet, but that you'd like to see in the next version, please feel free to make your suggestions either via email at unsecretun@hotmail.com or by using the 'blog' button located on the left.
I'll do my best to code these into the next version of Gumby for you. Thanks again for the donations and keep them coming.

The Future of Gumby 2.0
As you are probably aware, the development of Gumby 2.0 has was hit with multiple setbacks, the major one being the loss of our support forums due to some hackers.
Over the years, I have always tried to upgrade and enhance the program for free, but unfortunately I can no longer sustain the development and growth of the program on my own. I need help.
So today, I am turning the future of Gumby to you, it's users. At the bottom of this entry, you will find a paypal button that will allow you to make a donation towards the development of the software. The current version of the program will, as always, remain free. And if your generosity makes it possible, version 2.0 (and it's betas) will be free as well.
It up to you to decide if you wish to see this program develop further (I have plenty of ideas on new tools and ways of making the current ones better than before). If we can get enough funds, not only will we be able to kickstart the development again, but move to another server and re-opend the support forums as well.
I want to thank the 100,000+ users of the program: your feedback and positive comments over the years have made all those hours designing and programming worthwhile.
Version 2.0 is now in your hands. With your support, it will happen.

Just a small update to say that the registration for the alpha testing is currently closed. Of 237 potential participants, only 30 were selected. Each person received an email saying they had been picked for the test program.
Here's the way I picked testers:
I read each email I received and attributed points.
If a person only requested the alpha, they got zero points. If the person mentioned how they used the current Gumby, they got 1 point. Those that mentioned potential functions or made suggestions, got 2 points.
The top 28 people (those withthe highest number of points) were chosen to be in the program. To be fair, I randomly selected 2 people in the pool of 'zero scores' to also be part of the process. And that's how the 30 were selected.
REMEBER: It starts in mid/end of August.

You're probably wondering what happened to me. Well on March 1st, the new landlord of the building kicked eveyone out by not renewing a single lease.
And so, I suddenly had to find a new palce to live! It took a few weeks to find a new place and on the 16th, I started moving out. It wasn't easy (I had lived in the same house for 22 years).
I am now relocated in a new appartment. The computer is plugged-in and the internet guy re-connected me a few days ago. I still have to finish painting, installing lights, grouting tiles in the bathroom, and unpack boxes.
So for obvious reasons, the alpha test is moved forward till August, so I can get time to settle in. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but life threw me another curve and I've had to deal with the situation with urgency.

Ok sensation seekers, the time has arrived. If you are interested in participating in the Gumby 2.0 Alpha test program, here's how it's going to work:
From March 1st to March 20th, I will be accepting applications for people who want to test the program. The only requirements are that you report the functions you're using and how the program is behaving (AKA: bugs). You can also make suggestions on what you'd like to see that isn't there yet.
That's all. (well almost) you also need to promise not to distribute, copy, uplaod or put on a server or P2P network the copy you will receive. If I see a single alpha version floating around on the net I WILL CANCEL THE DEVELOPMENT OF GUMBY 2.0. Period.
If you can't handle these rules, then don't apply for the Alpha program and wait until the free public beta is released to everyone.
In early July, I will send out private emails with links to download your own personalized copy of the alpha version.
That's it. If you wish to apply for the Alpha program, send an email to:
Forums are down because some guy named Jordi used a php exploit, which was published last month, to destroy our community.
I don't know if the help forums will return: one thing is sure, the passwords have been compromised. I leave the decision to put them back or not in the hands of our friend Sir Luch and I will respect and support any decision he sees fit to deal with the situation.
In the meantime, if you have a question or issue, use the blob link (on the left) to submit your inquiries & comments.
Mac users represent only 3% of the market, so you really need to be a sort of low-life to attack such a small community.
And PC jerks wonder why Mac users hate them so much...
